Hi, Your bank routing number tells the federal reserve what bank to send your money to. Your bank account number tells your bank whose account to put it in. Normally selecting savings instead of checking should not stop your refund from going to your bank as long as those two numbers are  correct. You will want to call your bank and let them know of the error just in case it affects any internal coding systems they may use..
