What happens if my returns were not transmitted on April 9, 2019 when I thought I had e-filed? I transmitted my returns 5/19/2019 as I learned of my error.

The orange button did not seem to work.  I did not see the "I am not a robot "caption on my computer.  After reading answers from the community, I retried to e-file and saw the caption after adjusting my computer settings.

If you e-filed your tax return and have a tax refund there is no penalty for filing after the due date of the tax return.

If you owe taxes and paid the taxes owed when you filed the return, the IRS will send you a bill in the mail for any penalty and interest after they receive the tax return and payment of taxes owed.

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Use this TurboTax website to check the status of an e-filed return and if it was either accepted or rejected - https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
