What do i actually need to send in to state of CA for an amended tax return from last year? Frd and state taxes?

I downloaded 2020 return and its 150 pages , hope i dont have to print it all and send it in.  My ammended federal was accepted theu efile but star says i need to mail it in

No, you probably do not need to send all of the documents you printed to the CA Franchise Board.  According to the CA Franchise Board, if you are an individual filing an amended personal income tax return, use Schedule X to determine any additional amount you owe or refund due to you, and to provide reason(s) for amending.  Then, attach Schedule X to your completed amended tax returns:

  • Form 540, California Resident Income Tax Return,
  • Form 540NR, California Nonresident or Part-Year Resident Income Tax Return,
  • Form 540 2EZ, California Resident Income Tax Return, or
  • Form 540NR (Long or Short), California Nonresident or Part-Year Resident Income Tax Return (for 2018 taxable year and prior taxable years).

You may not have amended all of the above forms; however, to the extent any of the above have been amended, attach Schedule X to the forms that have been amended.

 

Mail your amended tax return and attached Schedule X to:

 

Franchise Tax Board
PO Box 942867
Sacramento, CA 94267-0001

TurboTax prints 150 pages to make you think you are getting your money's worth.

And it goes to PDF, not actual paper.

The worksheets are not part of your filed tax return.
