I got married last year 2024, got a new job, and I put my married last name for my W2. The problem is, I still have not change my name on my SSA, which it has my maiden name on it. Is this going to cause a problem, or I can still file a return?
You can still file a return. Since you haven't yet changed your name with the Social Security Administration, you will need to file using your maiden name if you plan to file electronically (which is recommended.)
The fact that your W-2 has your married name won't cause any conflicts so long as the Social Security number is correctly listed on that form.
This sort of thing happens with many taxpayers annually and does not cause problems.
First, on your tax return enter the name that is on your current SS card.
Second, the name on the W-2 and the name on your tax return or SS card do not have to match. Only the SS numbers must be the same.
