Using Multiple Tax Payments - Credit Card and Electronic Bank Transfer

Hello,

I owe a significant amount of tax this year. I want to split it up onto multiple payment methods. I want to pay the max of 2 credit card payments and also pay by bank account using the IRS website.

Is this allowed by the IRS? If I choose credit card do I need to only pay by credit card?

Yes, you can make multiple payments for different days if you pay directly through the IRS website.

You can pay from your bank account, your Debit or Credit Card, or even with digital wallet (PayPal).

You’ll need to confirm your identity before making a payment using pay now options. Make a payment immediately, or schedule a payment, without signing up for an IRS Online Account. However, an IRS online account is a great way to check information and you may wish to create one while you are there.

When you pay, be sure to select to which year it should be applied and that is it for a tax return, not an estimated tax payment. That way it will be credited to in the right place.

Yes, because direct debit for partial payments isn't available. Please refer to the following articles below.

What is direct debit and how does it work?

Can I pay my IRS taxes with a credit or debit card?

@AkinaLO if I use Direct Pay instead, would I be able to make 2 credit card payments and 1 Direct Pay payment?
