That answer is not correct.  The IRS will hold refunds that claim EIC or ACTC until mid February and pay on Feb 27 (unless held for other reasons.)

Most refunds come within 21 days from being accepted.

The 2015 PATH act mandated that tax refunds be held if the tax return claimed the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit in order to allow the IRS time to match wage statements (W-2's and 1099's) against the claimed income to combat fraudulent tax returns claiming income that did not exist and receive refunds before the IRS could process the wage statements.

Beginning in 2016, if you claim the EITC or ACTC on your tax return, the IRS must hold your refund until mid February This new law (PATH Act) requires the IRS to hold the entire refund.

2018 Refunds should be deposited about Feb 27., 2019

Most people in the first wave of EIC refunds last year had their money in their account by the 21 or 22. Last years tax year began on 1/21. I would expect this year will be the same. Updates sometime around the 15th with dd dates following shortly behind.

The tax season didn't officially kick off until the 28th. If you have EIC the earliest date I would expect a refund update until the week of 2/15.

Have you checked Where's My Refund?
