Unemployment Tax refund

Hello!

I received my unemployment tax refund yesterday and it was not the amount we thought it would be.  I call the IRS and was on hold for 1 hour and 45 min. Was told that we had the rest of the money go to something that was over due from another company and they wouldn't tell me who it was. Said they did not have that kind of info and left me high and dry. Should I do an amend on my taxes or what are some of my options?? Please help!!

Thank you!!

in two to three weeks you should get a letter of explanation.   is it possible you owe back child support or had other unpaid debt which could be levied against your refund?  filing an amended return would be a waste of time because there would be nothing different on it as compared to the IRS revision.

For non-IRS debts, you can contact the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) directly at (800) 304-3107 to find out if there is a pending offset of your refund and for how much. In addition, you will get an explanatory letter from the BFS if your refund is offset.

did you request that any Turbotax fees be deducted from your refund?
