Unemployment Credit

I filed my taxes March 5 and they have now just been paid.  I received $10,080 in unemployment and did not include the credit at the time as it was not law.  The IRS DID NOT adjust my taxes to reflect this credit so I now must amend my return.  I do have a paper copy of my filed return but when I bring up my turbo tax filed return it shows the $10,080 credit and I cannot remove it to get to my filed return amount.  It was suggested to add $10,200 to it to gross it up, however, it then gives my a $20,280 credit!!  This must be a turbo tax glitch as it should only give a $10,200 credit.  Any help on this matter would be appreciated.  I do not want to have to file a paper amendment when I pay for Turbo Tax and the electronic filing.

The IRS does not want you to amend for this----the system is already clogged with amended returns that are taking upward of six months to process.   The IRS will automatically recalculate your refund--be patient.

The IRS began to send out the additional refund checks for tax withheld from unemployment in May.   If you are eligible for the extra refund for federal tax that was withheld from your unemployment the IRS will be sending you an additional refund sometime during the next several months.  TurboTax cannot track or predict when it will be sent.  The IRS has not provided a way for you to track it, so all you can do is wait for the refund to arrive.

You *might* need to amend your state return for unemployment that was taxed by your state.
