I am unable to save a session for future work.  when I click on file/save or save  as, I am told that the file does not exist and to check the file name

Other community members with the same problem have stated that it is a problem with Windows 10 that is causing this error and stated that following the directions below worked for them:

To workaround:

  • Go to settings.
  • Select Update and Security.
  • Select Windows Security in the left hand column.
  • Go to Virus and Threat Protection Settings and under that heading select "manage settings."
  • Go to Controlled Folder Access and turn it off.

Hopefully will be able to save your Turbo Tax file under

C:\Users\yourname\documents\TurboTax\2019 your info

@caseyfast

This is an old thread, do you still need assistance with saving? If so, are you trying to save a tax file or a PDF?

The old thread at least pointed me in the right direction, and I solved my problem. I had a similar problem a couple years ago when I moved TurboTax from an old computer to a new one. Thanks again.

I purchased Turbo Tax today through Costco.  I filled out the entire tax questionnaire.  I'm at the point where it says:  "Do you want to keep this new document?"    It asks me to create a password and a security question.  The form will not accept a password and keeps telling me I'll delete the document if I don't save it.   I'm STUCK.

I solved my problem by opening Windows Settings and allowing TurboTax to save the file. For some reason the TurboTax installation process had not accomplished this. Thanks for your reply.
