TurboTax says my refund has been accepted but the Where's my refund site says it's still being processed?

On my Turbotax account page I filed on 1/30, It was accepted and it says that the estimated date of receiving my refund would be 2/20/22. Its 2/21/22 and I there is nothing in my account. I checked the Wheres my refund page but it states that my refund is "still being processed". Can anyone help me understand why they 2 separate things?

Your "return" (a return is the tax data file)  and that has been Accepted....just means that the IRS computers didn't reject the data file outright.

Their computers still can take several weeks to get around to processing it in detail (because of the millions of tax returns submitted early on) and eventually issuing a refund  (IF you actually are supposed to get one).

The WMR refund site lets you know the details of where they are at....only bother checking every 3-4 days.

Accepted does not mean Approved.

Accepted only means the IRS verified some basic info on it so they know it's really from you.  After it is Accepted the IRS processes it then approves it before they send the refund.

After Turbo Tax sends your return they are done with their part.  Now it's up to the IRS to process and Approve it.  It has nothing to do with Turbo Tax.  The IRS doesn't update Turbo Tax with the status of your return.  Turbo Tax just gives you an estimated date.
