TurboTax charged me twice for 2020 tax filing

Hi TurboTax -

I filed my and my wife's joint taxes on 2/10/2021 and TurboTax charged me $70 via my debit card accordingly. This payment is confirmed through my bank account.

On 2/18, TurboTax sent me an email that due to a problem with their software, my CA state return was rejected and that I needed to refile it. My federal return was completed and accepted though.

The same day I got the TurboTax reject email, I also happened to get a 1099-B in the mail as well that I hadn't factored into my returns. So I needed to amend. Long story short, I got my returns edited/updated last night and had them refiled. Except TurboTax recharged me $55 again last night, it wouldn't let me refile them without going through a payment option. So I used Paypal instead of my debit card. Is this right? Should one of these charges be refunded??

Additionally, now that I log back into the website, how can I be sure that TurboTax refiled my federal amended return as well?

Holy smokes, I think I just found out that I had to upgrade from Deluxe to Premier because I had the 1099-B addition?

If that's true, and TT charged me for Premier, then TT better have filed my amended federal return? Is there a way I can verify?

You are correct.  TurboTax Online Premier version is required for any investment sales.  You can always check the status of your e-filed returns, including your amendment by using the steps in this article.

Also there is a link for information about your amendment on the IRS site here. There is a phone number which may or may not provide results dueo to the overload and the pandemic as well as other information.

@DianeW777

Well that ended up being a rip then. I added the 1099-B as a loss and saved $7 off my federal tax bill (down to $1420 from $1427 calculated in Feb), only to be charged an extra $30 from TurboTax.  😐

When I login to TT, it says my federal return was transmitted and accepted 2/12. The IRS pulled my $1427 amount owed last night (the amount owed prior to entering in the 1099B info). I'm not going to quibble over $7. But it doesn't look like Turbotax anywhere has refiled my amendment though. Or perhaps I'm making an assumption that when I edited my return through the software to add in my 1099B that it would amend my federal and re-file my state?
