TT 2024 premier missing Maryland form 502CR

I've been using TT for over 15 years and this is the first year that Maryland form 502CR is missing!!

I spent several hours, on the phone, with TT support, trying to figure this out and they couldn't. This form is required for me to claim my senior tax credit according to Maryland tax support. So why isn't the form included this year? I ended up having to download the form and filled it out according to the way it was filled out in my 2023 return. There was no way I could attach the form to my return to file electronically so I had to mail my Maryland return via USPS. What a waste of my time!. TT should be ashamed of themselves for this gross oversight. To say I'm really annoyed with TT would be an understatement. I look forward to anyone's comments. Thanks

Maryland Form 502CR is included in both TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop. If it didn't populate, it's possible that you didn't qualify for the credit this year. If your income was over $100,000 (for single or married filing separately filing status) or $150,000 (for other filing statuses) you wouldn't qualify for the credit. Was your income above these thresholds?

Thank you for your prompt reply, however, I need to correct you on something. Form 502CR was not included in the Premier desktop version. When I tried to bring up the form I got a message that the form was not included and that I needed to contact the Maryland Dept of Taxation.  I contacted them and they said it was required. By-the-way, I'm a single filer and my taxable income, Line 15, did not exceed the threshold. I would also point out that the senior discount did show on form 502 exemptions line B. I look forward to your comments. Thanks

What credit are you trying to take on your return so we can guide you further?

Senior tax exemption Form 502 Line B

It shows on Form 502 and thru all calculations on that form. Form 502CR was included in previous years. On Form 502 CR the only lines populated were Part M and Part AA line 13  and 14

I'm able to pull up the 502CR in my TurboTax Desktop Premier. Can you confirm where you purchased your copy of TurboTax? Was it through the TurboTax website or a third party retailer?

I got my desktop copy of Premier thru a special offer from Fidelity investments. since I've been a good customer of Fidelity they gave a substantial discount. The desktop version was downloaded from  the TT website

I wanted mention one more thing about this issue. When I was searching for the 502CR form I got a message that this form was not provided/available and that I needed to contact Maryland Tax support.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

The option you want me to execute under the Online tab is not there. The only options showing are as follows:

Check for updates

TT web store

View Installed updates

Update preferences

Screen share code

What now?

Did I get an modified version of Premier when I took advantage of the Fidelity offer? It was downloaded from the TT web site.

Can you confirm that your program does not have the 'Send Tax File to Agent' after 'Updater Preferences'? (See screenshot below)  @arejfour

That option is not showing, in fact, I checked my 2023 TT Premier program and that option is not showing there as well. The screen shot you sent me is for Home and Business- I have Premier. That option might be available in H&B  but not in Premier. I look forward to your comments. Thanks

Make sure that you have actually opened your return, the option doesn't appear on the landing page.  Once you have opened/continued your tax return, you should see the Send Tax File To Agent in your dropdown menu.

In order to claim the Maryland Senior Tax Credit, your federal adjusted gross income (Line 11 of Form 1040) must not be more than $100,000 when you are filing as Single. @arejfour

From the 2024 Maryland Individual Tax Instructions

m. SENIOR TAX CREDIT. SB405, Acts of 2022, creates a tax credit for Maryland residents who are at least age 65. If the taxpayer’s federal adjusted gross income does not exceed $100,000, the amount of the tax credit is equal to $1,000. For married filing jointly, qualifying surviving spouse, and head of household whose federal adjusted gross income does not exceed $150,000, the credit amount is $1,750 (reduced to $1,000 if only one spouse filing jointly is at least age 65).

Thank you for your reply. I'm not disputing what you're saying, but, it's evident that the information given to me by the Maryland Tax support call center was incorrect. What I had already done was to submit my MD tax return with 502CR included. I download it from the Maryland site. I filled out form 502CR like it was done in 2023.  Line M, Line 12, Line 14 with $1,000. However, I made no changes to my submitted return and paid the money owed for $709. So I'll see if there are any consequences.  I appreciate your help and have a nice day.
