Trouble amending 1120S 2024 business desktop

I'm trying to amend my 2024 S corporation tax return that was filed with turbotax business desktop.  After following the instructions that I see on the turbotax website, I get a message that says "You have no returns eligible for e-filing."  and it mentions that my return was filed and accepted 2/19/2025, which I already know.  I saved the original return under a different file name.  I have modified the item I want to modify (the employee compensation line).  The turbotax file shows the corrected information that I want to file as an amendment.  But I don't see how to file the amendment.  What could be going wrong?

I'm fairly certain you will have to print and mail the amended return.

Turbotax Business does not support e-filing business income tax returns (e.g., 1120-S, 1065).

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  But I'm confused.  This other message thread says that Turbotax does support e-filing 1120S; but it's not available until February 15 (which passed 6 days ago).  I would not mind mailing the amendment as a workaround, but the same thread says that 1120S amendments must be e-filed.  Seehttps://ttlc.intuit.com/community/business-taxes/discussion/e-filing-options-for-amended-1120-s-for-tax-year-2024/00/3475935

But Gusto agrees with you that amended 1120S should be mailed.  So maybe the prior community post is wrong.  I'll try just mailing it.  I gather they filed half the IRS staff today, so perhaps it doesn't matter either way.

Hi @FortMyersSteve

I apologize for not being 100% on this, but I believe that post is in error; an amended return cannot be e-filed with Turbotax Business.

In the past, all amended returns in that program had to be printed and mailed; e-file simply did not work.

👍

Also, the post stating that an amended 1120-S is required to be e-filed by the IRS is definitely wrong.

So then do you know how I amend the 1120S by mail?  I see that you use an 1120X to amend an 1120, but don't see online if there is a form for amending the 1120S.

Form 1120-S has a box you check for an amended return.

Amended Return

To correct a previously filed Form 1120-S, file an amended Form 1120-S and check box H(4) on page 1. Attach a statement that identifies the line number of each amended item, the corrected amount or treatment of the item, and an explanation of the reasons for each change.

Yeah, I see now it was in the link you sent before to 1120S instructions.  All set.  And when I print the return in Turbotax, it has already checked that box.  So I just need to add the explanatory statement.
