Total 2019 tax refund

In August of 2018, my husband and I got married. We filed jointly for this 2019 tax year. I filed back in April and haven’t seen any returns, however I’ve paid the state tax already.

We are young, college students so the return is not big whatsoever.

On the “Turbo” app, the Federal tax refund is accepted and listed at $726.

The state tax was a payment of $506 which was accepted as I paid that online 4/7/2020.

However on the app, in big green letters it states “$220” as the “total 2019 tax refund.”

I hope I provided enough info. My question is, why is my return only $220 and not $726? And why has it taken this long?

I understand that if $506 was taken from my $726 return then I would only receive $220.

However I paid, $506 directly online, wouldn’t I then receive $726?

Thank you to anyone who can help!

You'll get the full $726 federal refund, unless the IRS informs you otherwise.

The issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have affected the IRS processing of refunds. You can check the status of your refund at this IRS website.  You'll need to enter your Social Security Number, your Filing Status and the refund amount as shown on your tax return.

TurboTax "nets" the refund and payment due for that "total 2019 tax refund" number it reported, but the federal and state tax returns are process separately.
