This year I filed my taxes with H&R Block. I am trying to amend last year's taxes. I filed stating I was a North Carolina resident, but it is Florida.

Would I be able to get a return for the taxes that I didn't need to pay?

Yes. You can get a refund of taxes that were withheld by your employer by mistake if you file an amended state return.

File a nonresident North Carolina income tax return. On the screen “Wages Allocation” change the status of your wages to Not NC Source Income. This will make your income not taxable to North Carolina.

You can use TurboTax to amend your 2021 return whether you used TurboTax or not. If you did not use TurboTax to prepare your 2021 return, you’ll have to buy 2021.
