There were 366 days in 2020. Why can I not file due to the system wanting only 365 days?

It depends.

Can you please clarify what section of the program you are entering your information into so we can direct you accordingly.

Thank you!

Schedule A: Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet

Line 1(b)2

I have ‘01/01/2020’ in that line.

In Line 1(b)3 I have ‘12/31/2020’.

There are 366 days in 2020, but e-file will not let me

proceed unless I have 365 days.

What state are you filing?  The Federal Schedule A does not have a line 1(b)3.

2020 Schedule A (Form 1040) (irs.gov)

Please try going to your state form, deleting the Schedule A form and starting it again.

Here is how to delete a form in TurboTax:

  • Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  • In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  • In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  • Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.
