There was a tax amount I owed from last year and I intended for it to be auto-deducted from my refund this year. It was removed from BOTH my federal AND state refunds.

Just to make sure I am understanding you correctly you are stating that the tax amount you owed was deducted from both Federal and State for the same amount? If this is true then I would contact the department,whether it be State or Federal, that was not owed the payment and let them know that an amount was taken out that was already paid by the other department.Before you do so double check and make sure that the payment taken was not for both last year and this year.
