First make sure that your return has been  acknowledged/accepted for processing, then see if you can see the progress of the processing  --IRS may still have one problem here -- the  status is shown only when you are getting a refund, so when you owe  there may be no status. If indeed  accepted for processing and the date for auto debit is within 30 days of the acceptance, the IRS will indeed auto debit (usually on the date that you directed them to ). If your return has been accpted, and the date of the direct debit has passed, you should acll the IRS. If you sent a check, then  usually the check is presented  and cashed long before the processing is completed.

Also not that many states do not accept direct debit -- you have to send in a check.

If the above answers do not solve your issue, please  call the iRS for the federal and the State treasury or department of revenue for your state. Turbotax only helps you prepare  and file your return and really can do nothing thereafter -- it is all in the hnads of the taxing authorities.

Can I see on the file that was accepted that I did in fact choose electronic debit? AKA How do I tell by looking in turbotax if i choose the auto debit option?

Excellent instructions!  I worked for me and I got an agent after 10 minutes (the system indicated between 7-15 minutes wait). Thank you so much!
