Texas resident taxes due?

I filed and IRS accepted and I set up autopay of taxes for April 15.  Since then, IRS has ruled all TX residents have until June 15 to file and pay.  Will IRS change the pay date from April 15 to June 15 or how can I change the date of the autopay?

The IRS will not change the payment date you specified.  You will have to cancel the payment and then make other arrangements to pay the taxes owed on or before July 15, 2021.  Suggest using the IRS payment website with Direct Pay - https://www.irs.gov/payments

Go to this IRS website for how to cancel a payment - https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-electronic-funds-withdrawal

  • Once your return is accepted, information pertaining to your payment, such as account information, payment date, or amount, cannot be changed. If changes are needed, the only option is to cancel the payment and choose another payment method.
  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
  • Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.

Texas federal deadline is now 6/15/2021. However, TT will not allow direct debit after 4/17/2021. Is TT going to update the software so that electronic payment is available through 6/15/2021?

Which version of TurboTax are you using?

This will most likely not be updated in TurboTax. Please follow the instructions DoninGA posted above. If you have not filed yet, you can choose to make the payment on your own on the IRS site here: Paying Your Taxes

I am about to file my taxes and I live in Texas.

I understand that the deadline to file/pay is Jul 15. I owe some taxes for 2020 and I intend to pay them today using directPay from IRS website.

I have the following questions:

a) In turbo tax, for "How would you like to pay your federal taxes?" do I simply select "Pay by check" and go ahead and file. After that I do a directPay for that balance amount. Does this sound ok?

b) Will IRS automatically consider that I live in Texas and not levy penalties for this payment? Or do I need to specify somewhere about this (either in turboTax or in IRS website)?

Thank you for taking the time.

Exactly.  Say you will mail a check then you can pay online.  The IRS  should know by your zip code.
