Taxes were completed on Wednesday, status lists PENDING. Please explain the delay? Are they filed?

They are pending with the IRS, not with TurboTax. If they have already been accepted, then they are pending processing. If not yet accepted, then they are pending acceptance or rejection by the IRS. All you can do is wait.
