State tax refund

According to the form I just filled out, I paid in about 1,700 in NC state taxes. My 1099s don't list any taxes paid to the state, and in the past I have had to pay state taxes. Did the program pull in information from somewhere? Is it interposing the data from my federal form into the state form? The amount they are saying I paid in state is the amount I contributed to the feds.

Yes, TurboTax automatically takes the N.C. state income taxes calculated in 2017 and add's them to state income taxes paid in 2018. Since you had an amount due of $1,700 and you paid that amount in 2018, you may be able to deduct it as an itemized deduction provided you itemized and your state, local, property taxes aren't more than $10,000 (known as the SALT cap).
