Some of the information that appears is wrong and must come from outer space. What is going on?

You have included railroad retirement to my income. that is wrong and my medical expenses are wrong. Where do you get this from?

If you were trying to enter Form SSA-1099, you may have accidentally selected the box underneath that shows "Railroad Retirement Benefits" instead. That would cause railroad retirement to show as income and transfer medical expenses to Schedule A.

You can double check your selections & correct this by using the instructions below:

  • On the Tax Timeline, select "Federal Taxes" then select "Wages and Income"
  • Scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security" and click "Show more" to expand the list.
  • Click "Revisit" (or edit/update) next to "Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)"
  • Select "Yes" and continue
  • On the next screen "Tell Us About the Benefits You Received" review the selection you've made.
  • If you selected RRB-1099 you'll see this checked along with the data you entered. You can delete the values in each cell and then select "Social Security Benefits (Form SSA-1099)" and enter the correct data.
  • Click continue to finish the interview process.
