So I picked for my tax returns to be direct deposit but my account just got deactivated today an I just want to change it so I get my returns as a check in the mail

Since your bank account is deactivated, once your deposit is rejected by the bank, you will automatically be switched to receiving a check in the mail.  You don't have to do anything.
