So will they be sending another deposit of 1,427.67 of the rest of my refund? There is no way in hell that fees added up to over 1K, when my fees charged only show 120.
Is it for your state refund? Federal and state refunds come separately from different places at different times. Otherwise if the IRS changed your refund they will mail you a letter in a couple weeks explaining it.
You will receive a notice in the Mail from the IRS within a few weeks, explaining what the IRS changed, added or removed from your tax return to arrive at the refund amount you received.
I wish it were. My state refund was $433. That's why I'm wondering where the rest of federal is.
In 2018, my previous employer screwed up my W-4 form, where it wasn't taking out any taxes. So, by next year when taxes rolled around I owed taxes back. Obviously. However, I set up an installment plan to pay that off over the course of several months until it was paid off. I've been making those payments for the past five months or so. Since the installment plan is in place, they're not supposed to take out of my federal refund this year to pay for that unless I allow that, is that correct?
They will take any past tax due you owe out of any refunds you get. So you are probably paid up now.
The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts. You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.
The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
