So i filed my taxes in February got my return and everything but i think i filed wrong. I’m not sure how to fix that. I think i put someone claims me as a dependent but neither of my parents clai

Neither of my parents claim me and i think that’s holding me back from getting my stimulus check. I don’t know what to do about that

Yes, if you can be claimed as a dependent then you cannot receive the stimulus payment. Please see Who can I claim as my dependent? for details.

 

If you cannot be claimed as a dependent then you will need to file an amended return (1040X). The IRS will only accept amended returns via mail. Usually, it takes up to 16 weeks to process Form 1040X but the IRS is currently not processing any paper returns. Therefore, it might be taking even longer.
