Since the irs has not stated that they have received my return should I resend it

Resend a mailed return or no when the status is not updated?

NO.  Do not mail it again.  The IRS is behind on updating their website.  Plan on 6 months or more for mailed returns.  The IRS is taking a lot longer this year.  All you can do is wait and be patient.

Got it. It would be nice if it said that somewhere so that way I didn’t assume it was lost in the mail somewhere

Here's a couple IRS articles.  The IRS is still processing 2020 returns.  June 21, 2022 the IRS is almost done processing 2020 returns, filed in 2021.  See,
