Since I filed using the wrong year 1098-T do I need to amend my taxes and send by mail?

Yes. If you have already e-filed and it has been accepted by the IRS, you would wait until after you have received your tax refund and then Amend your tax return using Form 1040X. Amending instructions will be available - in late January or early February 2018.

If your return gets rejected, you can go back and correct the Form 1098-T and resubmit your return.
