Since I filed my 2018 taxes and not my 2019 taxes that I will not be getting the direct deposit. Does this mean I have to wait until I file next year to get reimbursed?

the 2nd stimulus payment was based on the 2019 tax return; if you did not file you probably won't receive 

HOWEVER

you will receive it through a tax credit, which will increase your refund on your 2020 tax return
