Should I sign my original and amended federal returns with my mail in CA amended return even if I filed federal returns electronically?

Hi. I filed my federal returns electronically. IRS sent me notice that they automatically corrected my return, no amended filing needed. I had printed my CA taxes but not yet filed by the time i got this letter. When I discussed with Intuit they suggest I do amended federal return in order to generate an amended CA return. I actually did not file my CA return yet as the letter from IRS came before I filed. No rush with CA return as they owe me money. So now I have my CA amended return and FED amended return printed, even though I didn't actually file an amended federal return and did not file my original CA return. The instructions say to sign the returns. Do I need to sign the Federal Returns even though they were filed electronically. If so , both the original and amended? plus the CA amended?

Since you never mailed the original CA return you cannot file an amended CA return ... you will mail the original CA return with the corrected fed 1040  ( do not send the 1040X).
