Should I amend my taxes if I'm legally blind in one eye?

I have been legally blind in one eye my whole life, I didn't know that is a taxes deception. Should I amend my taxes this year and last year or is it a waste of time, or is it even allowed because its just one eye?

Being legally blind in one eye may not qualify you for the tax deductions.  To qualify you must have vision below 20 degrees in both eyes or your vision in your best eye is 20/200 or below.  If you are completely blind in one eye and below 20/200 in your other eye you would qualify.  If you are legally blind in one eye but your eyesight is better than 20/200 in your other eye you would not qualify.

If you do qualify you may benefit from filing an amendment but it would depend on your specific tax situation.  You can always start the amendment and indicate that you are blind to see if it would help you.  If it does not help you then you would remove the indication that you are blind and delete the Form 1040X to restore your return to the way it was when you originally filed.
