Should I amend my state taxes if I am not able to verify rent paid for the homestead credit

You would amend your state taxes if:

 

  • You've already filed your taxes.
  • They were accepted (not Rejected).
  • They were completely processed (You got a refund).
  • Most importantly, you have new information to add or correct.

If you filed your return, and a you have documentation that will give you the homestead credit, you should file an amended state tax return.
