Rejected Return

Hello! After filing, I received an email stating, " F8962-070 The file database indicates that form 8962 or a binary attachment with a description containing ACA explanation must be present in return". I googled what that means and it stated something about 1095A. I have insurance through work and do not use the marketplace. I also imported my w2, shouldn't it have picked up my health insurance from there? Can I go back and fix this? Thank you in advance!

Yes, this rejection means that you or someone on your tax return, including spouse and dependents, had ACA coverage for at least one month in 2023.

If there's any possibility that is correct, you can retrieve your 1095-A from Healthcare.gov.

Once you have the form you can add it to your tax return:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax.
  2. Select Fix my return.
  3. Select Deductions and Credits. If you don't see the menu, look for the three line icon in the upper left corner.
  4. Scroll down or expand the list to find Medical.
  5. Under Medical, look for Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  6. Select Edit/ Add to the right.
  7. Answer the questions to edit the information from your 1095-A.
  8. Look for Continue to File and keep going until you submit your tax return again.
