Rejected Federal Tax Return

I received an email stating that my federal tax return was rejected due to "a potential issue with the calculation of your Taxable Inherited IRA". I don't have an inherited IRA so I'm not sure what the problem is or how to fix it?

If you entered a pension distribution, you would have seen an option to designate it as an inherited IRA and you may have checked that box in error. You should go back through the form 1099-R entry and see if you can correct that entry if it applies.

Also, you may have had a pension distribution from a previous year that was from an inherited IRA, or was designated as such by mistake. If so, you may be able to remove it if it doesn't apply to this year by using these menu tabs in TurboTax:

  1. Tax tools (on the left menu bar)
  2. Tools
  3. Delete a form

Find the errant form 1099-R in the list and delete the form.

I have confirmed that I didn't unintentionally check the inherited IRA check box and I have no inherited IRA's from prior years. I don't have any errors when running the final review. When I click the "fix it" button in TurboTax I get a message saying "We are reviewing update to Taxable Inherited IRA calculations. We expect to have these updates done by March 5th, 2021." Does this mean that there is a glitch in the software that is causing my return to be rejected?

Were you able to correct the rejected return and resubmit?

There was nothing to correct so I think that it must have just been an issue with TurboTax.
