Refund taken for unknown reason

My refund said my amount was being reduce for this offset it to pay:

  • Past-due child support;
  • Federal agency non-tax debts;
  • State income tax obligations; or
  • Certain unemployment compensation debts owed to a state (generally, these are debts for (1) compensation paid due to fraud, or (2) contributions owing to a state fund that weren't paid

What if we have no idea what the reason it would be taken for i recieve child support not owe. 

Ive never had a fraud issue

Or compensation pay.

How do you find out what the money was owed too.

You can call the automated system, my husband had some student loans and that's what's being taken, the number is

You'll get an explanatory letter from the Bureau of the Fiscal Service if your refund is offset. The remainder of your refund will be processed as usual. An offset shouldn't delay it, unless your entire refund was applied to your debt.
