For the first time ever, we had to send a paper component for our taxes (form 8453 with a form 1098-C). Taxes were accepted on 1/28 and form was received 2/14 and I keep getting "your refund is still being processed
when I check the IRS Where's My Refund.
My question really is twofold.
1. Has anyone had supplemental tax documents processed already in the same timeframe and received a refund date?
2. Would it be worth amending my return to leave off the deduction that required the paper forms? It was not a huge amount and taking it off wouldn't decrease our refund by terribly much. Is it worth trying this, or is it better to just ride it out?
I lost the original form 1098-C after I submitted our return so I had to wait on a replacement copy, otherwise the form would have been submitted weeks earlier. It's been a whole thing.
I will answer what I can:
"Would it be worth amending my return to leave off the deduction that required the paper forms? It was not a huge amount and taking it off wouldn't decrease our refund by terribly much. Is it worth trying this, or is it better to just ride it out?"
We don't have any information about the timeframe to process or receive a refund date in this situation.
