I got a letter from IRS requesting form 1095A and 8962.
When I do the amened return in Turbo, a live agent told me to go ahead to send form 1040X. I didn't realize that in the IRS letter it clearly said: " Do not send in 1040X"
In this case, I haven't got a refund from 1040 yet.
It has been over 5 weeks now and I haven't heard anything back.
However, before I responded to IRS I could track my refund. Right now I couldn't get anything at all. It keeps saying if I got the right information.
I don't know what to do since I can't contact anyone.
Did you actually send the amendment?
Regardless of if you did or didn't, the IRS is not processing any mail at this point. The letter provides a fax number to fax the 8962. I would do that, even if you sent the amendment. A fax will go to an employee working remotely and should be processed. There will be confusion when they process the amendment, but they are going to have lots of these issues to deal with this year.
Here is how to get the form 8962 filled out. Please note: You are NOT going to amend your return and you are NOT going to add a state return. These directions are quirky but will get the job done.
The IRS may adjust your refund once they receive your form 8962.
