Refund less than supposed to be

I filed with TurboTax - I claimed the 2021 $1400 stimulus credit which I had received and had a letter from the IRS supporting it (letter stated same yr, same amt as claimed).

I got about $1345 less in my refund than expected and received a letter from the IRS saying there was an error in my 1040 in the area of my Recovery Rebate Credit- that either my soc sec #, my last name, my AGI exceeds $75,000 (which it does not) or the amt was calculated incorrectly. They then show my calculations and theirs and there is no difference between the two!  The logistical info is the correct since I have already received my (amended) return.
The letter says to contact the IRS by a phone # but it always says it is busy “to call on another business day” even if I call one minute after it opens in the morning.  There is no specific help on the website - “call representative for help in this area”.
I have checked numbers and such for fraud and these are the real deal.
I can’t reach IRS to discuss and there should be nothing wrong!

Suggestions?  Thx.

If you received a stimulus payment, you should not be claiming another $1,400 on your tax return.

Is Form 1040 line 30 $1,400 or $0. If you received a stimulus, line 30 should be $0 or blank. It should only be $1,400 if you did not get a payment.

thank you - you are right.

I answered yes to the question TTx asked “did you receive a stimulus check in 2021”.  (I had the letter from the IRS to verify it). It seems they filled out line 30 incorrectly. 1400 is entered on that line.
Now what do I do?  I am surprised they made this mistake!!

You don't have to do anything else. Line 30 was clearly wrong, but the IRS has corrected your tax return and issued the right refund to you.

i have the same problem, I filed jointly and line 30 is $2,800.00.

What should I do? Just wait for the IRS to catch the error?

The IRS knows that the stimulus payment was sent to you so they will adjust your filed 2021 tax return accordingly.

You do not need to amend the 2021 tax return.
