I had already filed federal taxes and it shows as processing on the IRS.gov site. A week later I received the 1095-A form after initially selected "no" when asked on my fed tax return. Tried to amen, could not, paid for deluxe to be able to add 1095-a. I added it but it was not accepted by the IRS. Probably because they have the original. Should I sit and wait for them to ask me for the the 1095-A form? I would also like a refund for the deluxe turbo tax as I already filed and bought it to help me amend the federal but would not go through. Did not need for state at all. Thanks
the IRS will almost certainly catch this omission. but it'll be weeks before you get a notice in the mail. most likely they'll ask for the 1095-A and a completed form 8962. It could even ask for an amended return. so you may need the deluxe after all.
@lizzgo
You could not amend because the IRS is not accepting amended returns yet. Plus you should wait until the return you filed has been completely processed before attempting to amend.
As @Mike9241 stated above, the IRS may catch the error and ask you to submit the form 1095-A. If IRS ask for the form, you will not need to amend but just forward the form to them using the request sent to you.
On another note, IRS just started to accept returns yesterday. If you receive an email that your return as been accepted by IRS then you will have to wait until the return is processed. On the other hand, if your return has been rejected, that means you will have an opportunity to correct the rejection plus add the form 1095-A prior to resubmitting.
