Received a letter to send in 8962 along with 1095 A for tax year 2016. It said nothing about needing anything from my 1040 return. Was that a 2015 thing or did I mess up

The form the IRS sent me said not to include 1040 along with the 8962 and 1095 A.  Reading other post from 2015 it looks like they wanted page 2 of 1040 included.  I hope I didnt just delay my refund even longer as I faxed over the 8962 and 1095 A last night.

The letter your received is outside the normal tax return processing, and is usually handled by an individual agent at the IRS. Thus, different letters even on the same subject may have somewhat different instructions.

In your case, just read the letter very carefully and do whatever the letter told you to do, and don't worry about what other letters might have said. We have to assume that if your agent had wanted the 1040, he/she would have asked you for it.

Thank you so much.  I'm just stressing and probably over thinking.
