I filed on Mar 6 and got my CA refund around a week later, yet it's been more than a month and my federal refund status just shows Return Received.
I know elsewhere it mentioned only the IRS can answer this, but I'm not about to waste an hour on the phone and risk getting no answer from them. So I was wondering if others have a similar situation where state refund came quickly but federal is delayed over a month for 2023 taxes. In the past, I got my federal refund faster than CA, but either way it arrived within a couple weeks after filing.
My return did ask me to mail a form to Austin for the details on 1099 capital gains where I reported totals for gain categories rather than individual stock sales. Not sure if it is held up on processing that. I didn't send it certified mail so have no proof it arrived.
If a refund was held up over a month, is there anything to gain by trying to call the IRS for details, or should I just wait?
