Paid to transmit State return, won't transmit.

I just finished my taxes two days ago, transmitted my free Federal e-file, my State (Rhode Island) wouldn't finish. I was told to wait for e-mail to proceed. I got the e-mail and opened my Windows Turbo Tax and clicked on updates. The State updated and I proceeded to transmit my State return after I paid my $20.00 fee to Intuit. I clicked on transmit and the return won't go. Message states Trouble recognizing the data in the return. Turbo Tax is not ready to process tax year 2021 for this return. What does that even mean and what do I do now ?

This may be related to Rhode Island State forms. I've included a link to RI State forms availability.   If you find that all forms needed for your return are available, please respond to this thread for further assistance.

Thanks for your reply, I looked at that list you included. The reason I have always used Turbo Tax for the last 20 plus years is that they guide me through the filing process and I just enter all the pertinent information. I rely on Turbo Tax telling me when I'm ready to file, they run a check for errors and when those are fixed They tell me to transmit my returns. My Federal went through just fine, They said  my State was ready to transmit, I paid my $20.00 fee clicked on transmit my return and got an error message. Turbo Tax was lax in advising me my return was ready to transmit when it wasn't. I'm not happy with the results at this time.

Please reach out to TurboTax Customer Support so that an agent can take a look and see the reason for the error message you're receiving.

What is the TurboTax phone number?

Have you filed your federal return yet?

I still can't transmit my Rhode Island State returns. Your site states the forms are available. Please respond or tell me how to get my money back so I can mail my return.

Thank you,

All the forms are available. Why won't this transmit?

Try filing now.  I was following a separate post on this same issue (and I'm sure there are at least a few posts) and people have started to report that it is working now.  I just completed my own federal and RI e-filings a few minutes ago.  There was neither a software update nor a notification from Intuit; maybe they're still working on it.

I'm having the same problem except with North Carolina.  I've paid to file my state return TWICE now.  I've repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled, both from the CD and from an online download.  When I finished taxes a week ago, I received a message that NC wasn't ready to file yet.  A couple days ago I received another message that the problem had been fixed and I could file NC as well as Federal.  Well, apparently NOT!!!  I tried filing both at the same time but was unable to.  I tried filing just Federal a minute ago, and it did work.  When is TurboTax going to fix this problem?

Same issue... paid, completed, updated software, won't transmit. Turbotax - you have an issue.

I've been trying for 2 days now. Neither the Federal return nor the NC return.  Same nonsensical message.  What is the answer?

I can't really give you an answer. I updated and shut down and it still didn't work. My federal went without a problem and then somebody posted on the 8th that the state was working and I tried and it work.

I also put in a call to Turbo Tax so hopefully they are reviewing the problem.

The TurboTax email is poorly worded.  It should have indicated that the forms are only available for printing and mailing at this time.

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing.  It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022

Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html

If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return.  This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.

If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen.  On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit.  Select the button File by Mail.  Then change the filing status of the state return.

After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing.  Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.

Me too for Indiana. Updated to no avail. As a matter of fact, neither would transmit until I decided to transmit only the federal. And, I get no error message. Phone help didn't help.

It's October and I'm having the same problem in Indiana. No luck here.
