Oregon State Filing Rejected in 2020 TurboTax on 2/15. All updates are applied prior to submission

I filed my taxes on Monday Feb 15, 2020.  The latest updates available are from 2/14 and I had them all applied before the filing.  Federal was accepted on 2/15 but Oregon was rejected on 2/17.

The error states: Oregon Federal Tax Liability Hold - Oregon Form 40, 40N, and 40P Federal tax liability requires a software update.

The problem is that I am 100% up to date and was before I filed.  TurboTax allows me to e-file again, but I believe it will just get rejected as there has been no software update applied (I am up to date) and the tax return will not change.   I don't want to end up doing this over and over for what seems to be an error with TurboTax itself.

Specific / exact versions are:

FPS 4.3.5

Per Fed Ind 1040 2020.11632

Per Oregon Ind F 2020.11050

Personal Program 2020.11064

All have a date last modified of 2/14/2 7:14 PM

TPS Engine 5.16.0

TPS Forms 2020.58.0.1

These two have a date last modified of 2/14/21 12:59 PM

Please help. Thanks!

I have this exact same problem. Like you I checked for TurboTax updates. It has not been updated since 2/13 - two days before I filed. I called TurboTax Support. After a 20 minute wait I got to speak to a support person who tried but could not help.

I have the exact same error message after filing on 02/11/21. My federal return as accepted without issue. It seems like a problem with TurboTax.

Are you still experiencing this issue?

I'm another who has this issue.  On 2/12 got the notice of Oregon rejecting it indicating an issue with the Federal Return.  Got the message the problem would be corrected with an update on 2/17, logging on this morning, it indicated an update was waiting, downloaded, installed, signed back on, now it shows I need to start the filling all over.  I'm doubting this is accurate as the automated message indicates the Federal Filing accepted and Oregon's rejected.

How do we get HELP and things corrected.

I am having the same issue. I went ahead and re-filed today 2/17 as it said to do and my return was rejected again. I asked in the chat to be called and was called back 9 minutes later by an automated person and then hung up on before I was connected to a live agent. Now after jumping through a ton of hoops and basically lying to the automated person about why I was calling (because when I called the first time it wouldn't let me speak to an agent) I'm on hold to finally speak to a live person in 20 minutes. I'll reply again if I get any useful info. The original post on this thread was from 2021 so I am curious as to why the problem wasn't fixed then.

Daniel, thanks for your reply, I hadn't caught this was an older thread.  If you are able to find out anything please reply to this.  Also, if you have a way of getting a contact number other than the fun automated loop.

Turbotax needs to fix this, and I need to know why online it seems to have vanished on my end yet, they have info on the Fed filling acceptance and Oregon rejection.

Trying to file my 2021 Oregon return and I'm having this exact problem. My software is definitely up-to-date. I have filed 3 times and it's been rejected 3 times.

The agent I spoke with wasn't aware of the issue but spoke with her supervisor who said to wait a couple more days til the software is fully updated. Error blurb I am getting does say to check back for updates above where it says to come back on 2/17, however I am using the online version and that doesn't need to be updated manually by me so I figured it was safe to try again today. Will wait til Monday and try again. Good luck!

I am also having the same issue.  Submitted on 2/15 and told to come back on the 17th.  This morning I did the update and resubmitted and was rejected again.  The error message said it had to do with calculating of the 3rd stimulus check, which is ironic because I wasn't eligible for any of the stimulus funds.  I guess I check each day and submit until it clears.

Thanks again for the update Daniel. I think my next step is to go on chat and see if someone can figure out what my completed work doesn’t show now.

I can't say it's fun to be back in this thread again. I had this problem filing my Oregon return last year (February of 2021).  Now I have it again this year (2022). My Federal return was accepted right away on 2/15 but my Oregon return was rejected. TurboTax finally got it right last year so I have some hope that they will fix their problems again this year. But this is getting old. Two years in a row !

No problem. I hope it works out!

dgrubb, I saw this thread was from last year which made me more irritated when dealing with it all today. Seems whatever glitch they found last year would have been fixed moving forward. The agent I spoke to today said to wait a couple days and try again even though it said to return on 2/17, so I am hoping she's correct.

Update: My return was accepted! My advice to everyone is to keep trying.

Mine was rejected yesterday, but was accepted this morning (2/18).  So the third time is a charm!

Success!!  Keeping fingers crossed, refiled today, and hope to see an accepted email in a day or so.

an FYI for folks needing to get to a live person, today I called and the first thing I said into the phone was Representative, it asked me what I needed so I said “find my return.”  It gave me an option for information to be emailed or texted, I said “representative” again. In a minute I had a live person, she couldn’t help me but connected to the Resolution Center.

after a 15 minute being on hold I got a guy, allowed him to screen share, he walked me through finding in on my Mac.

problem solved, noticed the Oregon refund was reduced a bit which told me they fixed the problem of the Turbo Tax incorrectly calculating the 3rd stimulus check and how it effects Oregons returns.
