Online efile rejected but payment went through, now what?

This year I decided to file my taxes electronically and also to make the payment via credit card for the taxes owed. Few hours after submitting online I got an email that it was rejected due to IRS not being to verify my AGI from prior year. I decided to just file by mail, printed everything out and made out the check for the taxes owed, and was ready to send it out. However, I decided to check my credit card and there is a pending payment for the taxes owed. My payment went through online even though my submission was rejected. So, what do I do now?

If you submitted a payment for taxes owed and TurboTax fees, you would want to contact your credit card company about that pending charge, if you decided to mail the return, if it was rejected. If the pending charge is just for taxes owed, you would just print and mail as normal, as the taxes owed would have to be paid anyway. Please let us know if this helps.

My efile was just rejected due to the IRS glitch with form 8960 however my credit card has a pending charge for the amount owed the IRS despite my return being rejected. My question is : will that pending charge fall off or will it still go through despite my return being rejected. I don’t want to get double charged once I successfully file.

We are aware of the Federal return rejection Reject Code F8960-019-04 Processing error Form 8960, Net Investment Income Tax. The Business rules need to be modified to reflect the updates to the instructions for form 8960. The IRS will update the Business rules by mid-March 2023.

Please see IRS Known Issues and Solutions for updates.
