New unemployment guidelines

Quick question . I filed my taxes already and I know we are suppose to wait for the irs to give us more information on what to do with the new unemployment guidelines. Does this still apply to you if you used 2019 unemployment income because of EIC? Hope that makes sense .

Unemployment is not earned income so it's not used for the EIC calculation.

  • For tax year 2020, The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) allows taxpayers to use their 2019 earned income if it was higher than their 2020 earned income in calculating the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) as well as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
