NC State Extra Credit Grant - How and where to update this Credit in Turbotax filing

Hi ,

 

I have received Extra Credit Grant from NC state as a "Coronavirus relief Fund to help families with qualifying children in North Carolina by providing economic support to assist with virtual schooling and child-care costs during the COVID-19 pandemic". 

 

Here my question is , where should I add this as a income in Turbotax ? . kindly help

Since the amount is below the $600 threshold for reporting on a Form 1099, you may not get a form from NC.  However, the income is taxable at the federal level.  You should enter it under "Miscellaneous Income" using the "Other reportable income" topic.  

 

You should exclude the income from your NC return.  On the page titled "Here's the income NC handles differently" scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" section and Start the "Other deductions from federal adjusted gross income" topic.  You will find the "Extra Credit Grant" on the next page.  Enter the amount in the box.
