My wife and I both got a notice from the IRS (CP32A) stating that we had previously received a refund check and it has expired. IRS won't answer. Does this affect 2021?

Why you received IRS Notice CP32A

  1. You filed a tax return with the IRS which resulted in a refund.
  2. The refund check the IRS sent you was never cashed. The refund check is only valid for one year and has expired.
  3. The IRS sent CP32A to notify you that the original refund check is no longer valid. The IRS will not mail a replacement check until you respond. Once you respond, you should receive your refund within 30 days. If you still have the original check, it should be destroyed.
