My W-4 form employee address is incorrect. Should I correct it in TurboTax or do I need to have it amended before submitting taxes?

No, you don't need to correct the address on your W-4 or your W-2.

Your W-4 employee address only has an impact with your employer. Your employer should have your correct address, because if you leave him, he will mail your W-2.

Your W-2 employee address is also not a concern to the IRS. They are worried about whether they have your correct current address.

As long as the mailing address you have entered in TurboTax is correct, you're good to go! Make sure that's the address that prints on your tax return.

How you change your address depends upon if you have filed your return yet or not.

If you have not filed your return yet, log back into TurboTax.

  1. On the black panel on the left, select My Info
  2. Scroll down until you see the Address section
  3. Select Edit to the right of your address
  4. You will be able to edit your information in this section

If you have already filed your tax returns, we cannot change anything.

You can change your address by referring to the following instructions from the IRS.
