My return was accepted january 17, 2019. When can i expect my refund to be direct deposited? It has been 11 days already and it still says processing.

I wish to know my estimated direct deposit date based on my acceptence date of january 17, 2019. Also any other information is appriciated. Thanks.

The IRS is not actually going to start processing 2018 tax returns until January 28. The few returns that were accepted early were used for testing the e-file system. The IRS says that they pay 9 out of 10 refunds within 21 days. Based on processing starting on January 28 (not January 17), you have a 9 out of 10 chance of getting your refund by February 18. Of course, yours could be the one out of 10 that takes longer. Also, if you claimed the Earned Income Credit (EIC), the additional child tax credit, or the refundable portion of the American Opportunity credit, the IRS is not allowed to pay your refund until after February 15, and they say it takes about a week after that date for the refund to actually be deposited. Finally, many people are saying that refunds will be slowed down because of lingering effects of the governement shutdown.
