Until the IRS starts processing your tax return there may not be a record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. You need to wait at least 24 hours after transmitting your tax return. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated accordingly. Also, you will need to know the exact amount of your tax return refund, your tax return filing status, and your Social Security number for the IRS when you visit the IRS website.
Can you provide us with a little more information? Did you file electronically - if so have you logged in to verify that your status is Accepted for the return?
Typically, it only takes a few days for an accepted return to show up in the IRS refund tracking system - be sure that when looking up the status, here: Where's My Refund? that you are entering only the refund expected on your federal return.
If you are not due a refund, and are checking your transcripts, your return will not post to your transcript until it is processed which can take a few weeks. Currently, processing times appear to be delayed for most returns.
