My refund was offset and I need to file Form 8379. Would it be faster to mail it in or should I amend my tax return so I can file it electronically?

I tried following the instructions on Turbo Tax to prepare the form, but I get a "it's too early to amend your return" error

It is faster just to mail in tax form 8379.

The IRS does not accept amended tax returns for e-file, so you would still be mailing something and you would be processed with all of newly filed amended tax returns.
